Brian Drum, Founder and CEO

Brian Drum is the founder and CEO of Drum Associates. A native New Yorker, Brian started Drum Associates at the age of 21 and, 50+ years later, is one of the most well-respected names in executive search. He is a leading authority on executive recruiting, interviewing, executive coaching and Human Resources Management.

The majority of his business comes from referrals, which is a testimonial not only to Brian’s personal attributes, but also to the extensive knowledge and insights he brings to his client and candidate relationships.

In a singular recognition of Brian’s professional abilities, he was recently the recipient of the US Government’s Small Business Person of the Year Award for the New York District. This is the first time the award has been presented to a business services provider, rather than to the vendor of a product. This recognition is illustrative of Brian’s professional philosophy, in creating lasting and supportive partnerships with Drum’s clients, rather than the vendor-buyer relationship that is typical of search firms. Brian forges relationships of mutual trust, respect, and confidentiality with each of the clients and candidates his company works with.

Carly Drum, President

Carly Drum joined Drum Associates as a Director and Relationship Manager in 2002. She has since used her sales skills to start Drum’s “Division I” recruitment unit, prospect and develop new clients and candidates, as well as maintain current client relationships. Carly previously worked for ESPN in Advertising Sales.

A graduate of Penn State University, she played Division 1 Tennis, and was also on the football recruiting team as well as a coach for Nike Tennis Camps. Carly is actively involved in networking groups throughout NYC, in addition to volunteering for the Cancer Organization.

Carly is a major contributor to the reputation, image and performance of Drum Associates. As the second generation in this family-run business, Carly is not only following tradition, but creating new traditions of excellence of her own to carry the company strongly forward. After fully establishing herself as a dynamic business leader possessing exemplary character, managerial skills, and vision, Carly Drum was promoted, and is now the President of Drum Associates.

Matt Porter, Managing Director

Matt Porter joined Drum Associates in 2018 to disrupt the status quo of the recruiting industry. Since joining, he has expanded Drum’s global clientele through his business creativity and consultative approach to people strategy. From established clients in the Fortune 500 to emerging Startups, he creates unique out of the box strategies that bring long-term results. Matt’s high energy and passion has made a significant impact on Drum’s clients and internal team.

An alumnus of Penn State University, and a former member of the Division 1 Golf team, Matt remains involved with athletics by mentoring student-athletes. Matt is always open to networking over coffee, advising individuals and companies, and volunteer opportunities.
